The Faculty of Social Work at the Benediktbeuern campus
The Faculty of Social Work at the Benediktbeuern campus is well-known for its quality and innovation, as well as the strong practical relevance in its degrees. It offers Bachelor's degree programmes in Social Work as well as Religious Education and Church Educational Work. Both programmes are designed in such a way that they are closely linked, and can also be completed as a double degree. Furthermore, valuable additional qualifications can be gained during studies, and thereby plus points for the professional future. These include the additional qualifications in theology, experiential education and music. The scientific and practice-orientated university degree programmes convey profound professional knowledge, key skills and differentiated action methods for different fields of activity within social work, ecclesiastical education and pastoral care.
Approximately 20 professors teach in the two degree programmes, who draw on their recognised expertise and a high level of personal dedication to convey knowledge, tackle current issues and problem situations, and assist with further personal development during studies. In doing so, close cooperation with real life practice has a high priority in teaching and research, as shown by the participation of a wide range of experts from research and practice in the teaching, as well as the close integration of the practical semester, reflection and relevant theory in the teaching. The high quality of the studies has been reflected for years in the top scores in the CHE University Ranking, which particularly highlight, amongst other things, the intensive contact with teachers, appropriate seminar group sizes, as well as a stimulating and activating learning environment, in which questions and discussions are welcome.
At the Benediktbeuern campus there are approximately 550 students, who particularly value not only the teaching, but also the excellent studying conditions, the very good support and advice from the approximately 20 employees in administration, the well-stocked library, as well as the media and IT facilities. In addition, there is a great atmosphere in a unique environment, which offers a complete range of intellectual, cultural and sporting activities. Open offers at the university in the fields of culture, music and sport by teachers and tutors, self-organisation by the students for the creation of new modes and spaces of experience, and social involvement at the university as well as in the community, all contribute to an intensive and differentiated climate.
After successfully completing their Bachelor's degree, graduates of both degree programmes have excellent career prospects in social work, pastoral work or school religious education, as well as the possibility of doing a Master's degree programme.
