Prospects & perspectives
The studies in religious education and ecclesiastical education offer specialised scientific and practice-orientated training for working as a
- community assistant in a Catholic parish: You work in a variety of ways in the pastoral and social areas of parish ministry, e.g. in childcare and youth work, adult education, as well as pastoral care for the old and those suffering from ill health
and/or
- teacher of religion in church service at primary, middle and special schools for the subject of Catholic Religious Education
Prerequisite for future activity in church service is already during studies:
- Participation in the candidate group of the home diocese of the student. Please contact the responsible person in your home diocese, when commencing your studies.
- Regular participation in spiritual mentorship, which supports individuals with their personal and spiritual maturation.
Applications & admission
All information regarding applications and admission can be found on the pages of the Benediktbeuern Student Secretary’s Office. If you have a foreign higher education entrance qualification or a foreign university degree, and wish to apply for a Bachelor's degree programme at the KSH Munich, you must first have your foreign certificates checked by the external service provider uni-assist e.V.. The pre-evaluation documentation obtained from uni-assist e.V. must be submitted together with the application documents. The degree programme
The degree programme in "Religious Education and Church Educational Work (B.A.)" combines theological expertise with fundamentals in the related disciplines of education, psychology, sociology and philosophy. Career preparation takes place through courses with practical relevance, as well as internships alongside studies in schools, congregations and other facilities in church sponsorship.
Two additional qualifications are offered in conjunction with this degree programme:
- Music Pedagogy additional qualification (MUZA)
- Experiential Pedagogy additional qualification (EPZ)
The degree programme in Religious Education and Church Educational Work can be combined with the Bachelor's degree programme in Social Work as a double degree.
Structure of the curriculum
The degree programme is not subject to restricted admission. It is offered as a full-time programme over 7 semesters, of which the 7th semester is a practical semester. The course is modular and consists of 210 ECTS credit points (CP). Upon successful completion, the academic degree of Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) is awarded.
