The Faculty of Health and Nursing at the Munich campus
In 1995, the KSH introduced its Nursing Management degree programme - the first-ever nursing degree programme in Bavaria. The introduction of the programme was also the nucleus for the Faculty of Health and Nursing, which was founded in the same year. From 2005 and in line with the Bologna Process, the Nursing Management degree programme was converted into a Bachelor's degree programme and supplemented with the integrated degree programme in Nursing Education.
Since 2014, the degree programmes in Nursing Management and Nursing Education have been offered as independent Bachelor's degree programmes. In addition to that, a Nursing dual degree programme (B.Sc.), which combines vocational training with academic studies, has been offered at the university since 2009. Already qualified nursing staff may also be admitted to this combined dual programme, and can receive academic credits for their non-university training. With the expansion of its range to include Master's degree programmes, the largest Faculty of Health and Nursing in Bavaria today offers diverse educational opportunities at Bachelor's and Master's level.
Since the winter semester of 2015/16, the Skills and Simulation Laboratory has served as an important place of learning for nursing degree programmes at the KSH. In order to meet the demands of modern nursing education, students utilise this modern teaching-learning method in various settings during their studies. Theoretically acquired skills and abilities related to the skills lab method can be practiced, strengthend and consolidated in nursing scenarios with the simulation doll.
