Profile of the degree programme
The KSH Munich is offering graduates the option to gain further qualifications with its part-time Master’s degree programme in Education and Education Management in the Health System, aimed at those with a Bachelor’s degree in the fields of nursing, healthcare or social work. The Master’s degree programme responds to the need for more highly qualified students with an extended range of both scientific and practical skills related to the areas of education and education management in the health system.
The KSH Munich is currently one of Bavaria’s top educators in nursing education (B.A.), with an outstanding level of acceptance on the labour market, mainly due to its clearly value-based degree programmes. The combination in particular of scientific educational content and education management opens up a wealth of job opportunities to graduates, in which they can assume responsibility as multipliers and take on a key role in shaping the nursing education landscape.
Structure of the curriculum
The degree programme is designed as a part-time programme covering a standard period of study of four semesters. It consists of 16 compulsory and optional modules, which are made up of course time spent in attendance at the university, self-study and 3 practical cross-linking modules. 90 ECTS credit points are gained. It concludes with the awarding of the academic degree of Master of Arts (M.A.).
Prospects and perspectives
Course objectives:
- Qualification for a career in public administration senior service
- Acquisition of the teaching qualification for theoretical lessons at nursing schools and/or the qualification to run a nursing school, if the corresponding state-specific requirements are met under consideration of all course achievements
- Qualification for management and leadership positions
- Assumption of diverse planning, conceptual and leadership activities as well as educational tasks in the health system
- Proficiency in the instruments of applied research
- Continuing with a doctoral degree is possible
Career perspectives:
- Leading position at a school or educational academy
- Teacher at a nursing school
- Activities in advanced and further training, research and development
- Independently conducting educational research projects in various settings of the health system
- Doctoral degree, e.g. together with a cooperating university
Applications & admission
We offer 25 places on the course each summer semester.
Admission requirements for the consecutive Master's degree programme in Education and Education Management in the Health System: Certificate showing successful completion of a Bachelor's or Diplom degree programme in nursing or health sciences, or a degree in a related field of study of at least 6 semesters (full-time equivalent), with an overall examination grade of at least 2.5, and 210 ECTS credit points gained during these prior studies. People who only have 180 CP at the point of application can be admitted on probation, and must earn an additional 30 CP in the first two semesters by completing relevant courses. Applications to start studies in the summer semester of 2020 can be submitted as from 1 December 2019.
